Before you open an account

What a resident of India should know.

Residents of India send money to a foreign broker under the Reserve Bank of India's Liberalised Remittance Scheme, up to US$250,000 a financial year. The scheme does not allow remittances for margin or margin calls to overseas exchanges or counterparties. Brokers add their own limits. In this directory, one broker opens cash accounts only for residents of India, and another does not let them trade options or use margin. Check the broker's rules for India before you fund an account.
